With the help of many donors and a generous grant from Rotary International, we now have a multifunctional Peace Center. The Peace Center provides services to the community and training to professionals as well as income streams to Ihumure to fund its activities. The building is located strategically in Rugerero, Rwanda near the border town of Gisenyi. There are possibilities for expansion while remaining accessible to Rwandans and Congolese by public transportation.
The Ihumure Peace Center is an oasis that teaches peace through example, activities that create economic self-reliance. Demonstration gardens, craft exposition, a market and café are all part of the vision for the Center. Of course, the center also provides the services that Ihumure is known for: workshops, mediation, trauma recovery services and professional training.
